Transparency | tentree®

Each product tells a story of tentree and its mission; to protect the world we play in. By planting ten trees for every item purchased, we prove to the world that sustainability can and should be as easy as putting on a t-shirt. Our core values drive us to find the best responsibly sourced materials, and the guarantee of safe and respectful work environments. So, by the time your tentree product arrives to you, you know that its journey was defined by the smallest environmental footprint, and made proudly by people treated fairly and with dignity.

Let's show you what keeps us growing

Being sustainable doesn’t mean you have to give up your life, or purge your entire lifestyle. We, and the planet, are just asking you to be a little more aware of what you’re paying for, and we’ll do the rest. We’ve implemented these programs and steps into our workflow to make sure we’re holding up our end of the bargain.

Tree Registry Program

10 trees are planted for every item purchased. That is our promise to you. To achieve this, we’ve partnered with great NGOs such as Eden Reforestation, Trees for the Future, Plant With Purpose, and One Tree Planted to name a few. Our tree tokens let you register your tree codes to see where your ten trees are planted, and how your trees add value to the local communities.

Materials and Fibres

At tentree we’ve adopted a Preferred Material and Fibre approach. That means for every new material we source we ask ourselves these questions:

  1. Where is the material coming from and how is it transformed?
  2. Are there any environmental and/or ethical concerns?
  3. What happens to the material at the end of its use or life?
  4. Is there a preferred alternative option out there?

If the material or fibre in question doesn’t answer these questions sufficiently, then we look for better options. It’s time consuming, and it involves a lot of effort on our team, so when we find a fibre or material that’s out of this world, it’s very exciting.

A truly sustainable fibre or material is incredibly valuable to us, and we celebrate it by categorizing it as a Crown Material. We’ll always try to make a Crown Material the main component in every tentree product.

A simple t-shirt can travel up to five different countries before it ends up in your hands. You trust us to take the most ethical and responsible steps along the way, and we don’t take that trust lightly. That means we partner with factories and mills who surround their employees with a safe and respectful environment. Learn more about our ethical manufacturing here.

Code of Conduct

We approach every step of our business with these guardrails, and this includes our partners and suppliers. With these pillars of ethics and principles, we ensure that all the people who work with tentree are respected, valued, and feel safe. Before any form of production can begin, we require all of our suppliers to sign and adhere to the following guidelines. We also require routine audits to ensure their continual commitment to our code of conduct. View our Code of Conduct

We want our customers to know definitively that by buying from tentree, they are making a difference. We dug into the three main factors of environmental impact: water, waste, and carbon emissions. With help from an environmental group, GreenStep, they went through our entire inventory and identified their estimated resource usage. The result is the Eco-Log, a calculator that compares tentree products’ environmental footprint to their conventional counterparts. When you shop with us online, you’re now able to see from the Eco-Log the water saved, waste diverted, and carbon emissions captured, letting you make informed decisions. You can learn more about how we did it here.
