The Pineapple Effect
The Pineapple
The pineapple plant and other fruit trees promote economic growth and community engagement in developing regions, which are vital to the long-term protection of local forests.

The Importance of Agroforestry
Five of our planting sites use a form of tree planting called agroforestry. This is a system that integrates trees, crops, people and sometimes animals on the same piece of land. This allows for higher productivity, greater economic returns and more social benefits on a sustainable basis.
Forest Gardens
In Haiti our partners have learned agroforestry and are now planting avocado and orange trees in their “forest gardens”. Planting pineapples in Indonesia has empowered the community and provides extra income.
